About Arne Jacobsen The Egg:
Arne Jacobsen The egg was designed in 1958 for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen together with i.e. The Swan and the Drop. The egg is mainly designed for the hotel lounge area along with the swan, which can also be seen as they have some of the same expressions in their design as e.g. uniform feet.
The shell of the egg is made of solidified foam which is incredibly strong. The shell is fitted with foam and then padded with leather or fabric. The egg has a four-pass steel base, which you can get with or without a return turn.
Why buy used Arne Jacobsen Eggs?
When you buy used AJ Egg armchairs, you can of course buy some that have been nicely patinated over time, but if you now want to do the work yourself, you can also buy a newly upholstered and renovated Egg, where it can be difficult to see, that it has been used at all, and at the same time at about half the new price. You can of course also choose to buy a used patinated AJ egg armchair, if you do not have the time to give the leather / fabric the life that the patina gives the egg.
- So if you want an Egg armchair that appears with patinated original leather, or a newly upholstered egg for about half the new price, then it is a good idea to buy used Arne Jacobsen armchairs. However, we also have new chairs if you prefer.
How our AJ Eggs are renovated: When we at CPH-Classic renovate our Eggs, it is often done with a reupholstery and installation of new foam. In addition, we polish the feet / frames so that the chair looks as nice as possible.
