About the designer:

Charles Eames studied architecture at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. When designing furniture for MoMa as a project, he met Ray, who also studied at Cranbrook. Charles and Ray Eames married in 1941 and lived in California. They were the dream couple in American design and are some of the biggest icons. In addition to being talented furniture designers, they were also successful photographers, filmmakers and architects. The Eames house in Los Angeles from 1949 was the couple's residence and is now a design landmark, museum and mecca for design lovers. Their most iconic design classic was the Lounge Chair, which is loved by all who love modern furniture. Their international career spans 40 years, where the couple produced shelving systems, dining tables, chairs, sofas and more. Their career really got underway after World War II.

Their practical and elegant style is still popular today and their designs are still produced according to the original method. The World Design Congress named the couple the most influential designers of the 20th century thanks to their exceptional ability to innovate in terms of material choices and concept solutions.

About the EA-217 Office Chair:

The office chair is an exclusive design suitable for both companies and homes. The comfort is mainly due to the rocking mechanism which can be adjusted to the user's weight as well as the soft padding with sewn-on cushions. The seat mechanism has an adjustable inclination to the rear and is lockable in a forward position. There is continuous seat height adjustment with a gas spring. EA-217 is the model with a low/medium back, whereas EA-219 is the model with a high back. The office chair is upholstered with leather at the front and fabric at the back in the same color. The Soft Pad group dates from the year 1969, which has a comparability with the Aluminum group from 1958. The difference, however, is that the Soft Pad has a special softness and volume that shapes ergonomically according to the user's body. The office chair is available with both soft and hard wheels.
